Lizzy’s Story

Meet Lizzy

Lizzy was the inspiration for Lizzy's Animal Hospice. She was only with us for two years, but that was longer than we thought she would live considering the condition she was found in. Lizzy was chained to a tree in Southwest Austin, and her hair was so heavily matted that every time she tried to stand up she would fall over - and she was frail. At around 13 years of age, Lizzy was given the life she deserved in the first place. She lived free of chains and matted hair, ate healthy food, and received pain maintenance to help with her arthritis. Most importantly, Lizzy was showered with love and companionship (both human and animal), probably for the first time.

Lizzy’s Animal Hospice is a 501(c)(3) non profit and all monetary donations are tax deductible.

Our mission is to provide a home environment to the most vulnerable companion animals in a shelter environment, or who would ultimately end up in a shelter: those who are elderly, terminally ill, and homeless.

Lizzy’s relies on individual foster families so our senior dogs do not have to live out their days in a shelter environment. We put on regular “Meet and Greets” to provide opportunities to meet our available dogs, and to educate others on what Lizzy’s is all about.
